GAS - If you have bought
a resale, your property should already have a contract with Repsol for the
supply of the orange gas bottles. With a new house the builder should set up a
contract for you. If in doubt ring Repsol in Pego on Tel. 96 557 0715.
Repsol (orange bottles) deliver gas on a weekly basis, and on El Capsó this is
normally a Tuesday (but this can be Wednesday or later if it is fiesta). If you
want a refill, put your empty cylinder outside your gate to signal to the driver
that you need a replacement. He will stop and pip his horn to let you know he
has arrived and you go and pay him. For
replacement of the large bottles or tank refills, you need to ring Repsol in
Pego to order for delivery the following week. CEPSA (silver) - the new silver
lightweight gas bottles can be bought and exchanged locally from John Deere or
Dasi.

ELECTRICITY
- Power
cuts happen frequently for no apparent reason and are often for only a few
seconds. Don’t worry, it’s not usually off for long. Iberdrola is your supplier
and the telephone number in Dénia is 96 578 0024.

WATER
- The tap
water in Orba is drinkable. Should you need the services of a plumber there are
several advertising in the local press or ask a neighbour if they can recommend
one. Water leaks, loss of pressure, or other problems should be reported immediately
if they are before the meter to the Town Hall (Tel no. 616 522 698). If you have little or no
Spanish you can say ‘escape de agua ‘ and give your address and hopefully they
will arrive to investigate. After the meter leaks are your responsibility.
Remember water is precious in Spain and should not be wasted

FIREWOOD
- See a
Committee member or neighbour as the quality of wood varies greatly and is best
bought by recommendation.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
-
There is a bus service from Orba to Dénia which stops outside Codayma (Julie’s shop) and
goes into the bus station.
There is a small gauge rail service from Dénia to Alicante with stops at many of
the coastal towns en route. Timetables can be obtained from Dénia station or
Tourist Information. A service to Valencia is available from Gandia and takes
about 50 minutes. If you want to use this service, and leave your car parked for
the day, you would be better going to Xeraco which is the first stop north of
Gandia and has a suitable car park. From Valencia you can get to most places, or
alternatively you can travel from Alicante.

MEDICAL SERVICES
-
The GP in Orba (Spanish speaking), covers you on your E111 or in an Emergency at
Dénia Hospital (Urgencia). The Medical Centre in Orba (Calle De
L'Alter) is manned for
emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year - just ring the bell if you need
help out of hours, or phone 96 558 3011 (24 hours). For private care (English & German speaking Doctors),
the nearest place to go for both GP and Emergency is the Acuario Hospital at
Beniarbeig which offers 24 hour cover.
There are 2 books which we recommend you buy: 1) Help 2) Tell the Doctor. These
can both be bought at Julie’s in Orba (Codayma) and give more information on
medical and other issues.

CHURCH SERVICES
-
Times are published in the Costa Blanca News.

SEPTIC TANKS
- For
nearly all the houses on El Capsó the sewerage goes into your own septic tank,
and you should be aware that ABSOLUTELY NOTHING EXCEPT THE OBVIOUS & SPANISH
TOILET PAPER should be put down your toilet (not even paper hankies) . These
work efficiently most of the time so long as you don’t put down liquids which
are not bio-friendly, as this stops the bacteria from breaking down the
contents. Generally there is no need to do anything to them, although you can
occasionally add some ‘Hyzyme’ or chopped liver down the toilet if want. If you
return to your house after a few weeks away and there is a ‘drain’ smell
hopefully it will only be because your U-bends have dried out, and nothing more
sinister, so just put water down them. Should you need the tank emptying there
are adverts in the local press.
